I have been suffering off and on since I was 14.
Nothing is ever found but the pain is so very real.
This lingering illness with no one "getting it" or diagnosing it is about to cost me a eight(8) year marriage from the frustration of me being ill and no one listening. If someone out there want's to help me please do so as I just want this over so I can be as normal as possible again.
This is very stressful for us and frustrating as well.
I AM NOT A DOCTOR NOR AM I IN THE MEDICAL PROFESSION IN ANY WAY!
THIS IS NOT TO BE USED AS A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL OR MEDICAL ADVICE!
IF YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE SIMILAR TO ANY YOU READ HERE YOU SHOULD SEE A DR.
THIS IS JUST TO HELP US ALL UNDERSTAND HOW ANNOYING THE APPENDIX CAN BE AND THAT MANY OF US SUFFER UNNECESSARILY.
My husband hates that I am doing this BTW.
He says "I bet you now know more than the average internist about the appendix", he's MTL right. And that's sad. SO all you Dr.s out there need to realize obvious fish is not always obvious.
If someone says it hurts but it's not acting in the "NORMAL" way well you should know after all that med school that we are all unique individuals with substantial differences in the nervous system.
I am going to back as much up as I possibly can with links. Other peoples personal stories or my own you will just have to take at face value. But medical info will have link provided if posted by me. So if you post reply to this blog and have medical info other than personal experience please back it up with a link or I will have to remove your post. This is to HELP people and stop the suffering. NOT make it worse with bogus info. Thanks in advance for your help. The more of us that come forward the more the medical community will HAVE to start listening. After all, this is OUR bodies, not theirs, and if we took the time to get to know out body we just instinctively KNOW when something is WRONG and we should NEVER let a stranger tell us we don't know our own body. They need to LISTEN to us and help us if we ask for it. Not just brush us off because it's a busy night or they don't think we are one of the beautiful people or we have a road map of survival. We all deserve to live in as little pain as possible and they took an oath to help us do that. Sad thing is they don't usually follow it if they get frustrated or other outside factors weasel the way in.
THE
Hippocratic Oath
I swear by Apollo, the healer, Asclepius, Hygieia, and Panacea, and I take to witness all the gods, all the goddesses, to keep according to my ability and my judgment, the following Oath and agreement:
To consider dear to me, as my parents, him who taught me this art; to live in common with him and, if necessary, to share my goods with him; To look upon his children as my own brothers, to teach them this art; and that by my teaching, I will impart a knowledge of this art to my own sons, and to my teacher's sons, and to disciples bound by an indenture and oath according to the medical laws, and no others.
I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.
I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.
But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts.
I will not cut for stone, even for patients in whom the disease is manifest; I will leave this operation to be performed by practitioners, specialists in this art.
In every house where I come I will enter only for the good of my patients, keeping myself far from all intentional ill-doing and all seduction and especially from the pleasures of love with women or men, be they free or slaves.
All that may come to my knowledge in the exercise of my profession or in daily commerce with men, which ought not to be spread abroad, I will keep secret and will never reveal.
If I keep this oath faithfully, may I enjoy my life and practice my art, respected by all humanity and in all times; but if I swerve from it or violate it, may the reverse be my life.
I think wiki is OK for this one.
"I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone." OK, I get i,t but think about this, what if ignoring the issue because it's not acting in a "NORMAL" way causes MORE later down the road? Or leaves the person in illness for an extended period of time? Yes, I know, double edge sword, malpractice lawsuit, all that uncool stuff. Here's an idea, there are usually more than just CT/MRI/blood/urine/palpation tests right? DO THOSE TOO! ALL OF THEM if necessary! HELP these people not just well obvious fish wasn't obvious so it must not be.
I also understand there is a psychological disorder called "somatoform disorder" that makes people think they have appendicitis and or heart issues. People, please, don't buy this diagnosis UNTIL they can prove beyond reasonable doubt that it's not a form of appendicitis or heart disease. And there is only one way to prove that. The little buggard has to come out. It's just not as useful as they want us to believe. Millions live just fine and long, happy, healthy lives without it.

I also understand that by bringing this to light in a personal and public way that it will bring out the persons that actually "LIKE" surgeries and medical attention but they would find the info and a way anyhow so it's not my fault.

Physicians, please don't post here to dis on your colleagues if you personally don't believe that either silent or chronic appendicitis does not exist. They do, and just because you don't think so does not mean that others don't believe in them. Use this to educate yourselves further. If you don't you are encouraging malpractice and advocating unnecessary pain as sometimes in these two(2) forms of appendicitis pathology is the ONLY way to know. People die from these forms of appendicitis, please help and stop hurting with your stubbornness.
YOUR APPENDIX LIVES TO KILL YOU!
----------------------------------------------------------
Live/Loves whatever. That's all the little buggard want's to do. It just disguises itself with a non hostile intent, but really, it hates you. Secretly sitting there, full of bacteria, just waiting for the right moment to fuck your life over in some painful way.
With the help of many wonderful people I will bring this monster out into the open and hopefully educate people, save a life or two and make yall laugh a little. I apologize in advance if the laughter hurts but I am a comedienne and I just can't help myself. They say laughter is the best medicine, sometimes...right?
Ladies DO NOT let them do a hysterectomy first! INSIST on the appendix first! ONLY give in to the hysterectomy if they can prove beyond a reason of a doubt that's what it is and the only way is as I have said before, good by appendix you little buggard you. But it is your choice to listen however you choose, I am just saying why resign yourself to a life of hormone shots/pills if you don't need to. Here is a link to info on this subject of hysterectomy and health issues post: http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/26/3/476.full.pdf
And this is why I say unless its obvious fish insist on the appendix first.
I only post one(1) link otherwise this would just be one huge link fest. I post the most relevant, in my opinion, you are more than welcome to add a personal response with links but if they are just to bogus info that can't be substantiated, and trust me there's allot of that out there, i will have to remove the comment. So, please, unless it's a link to a personal blog or a substantiated medical site no links. I CAN NOT be held responsible for links on others sites and or blogs, however.
On Cinco de Mayo 2011 my husband had appendicitis but his played nice and "NORMAL", lucky bastard.
JANET- I had undiagnosed appendicitis for about six months. When they finally admitted me, and I had the first of two surgeries, the surgeon said I was probably about 18 hours from a fatal rupture. It was so bad, they couldn't remove the appendix on the first pass. I had to have drains installed, and heal for two more months. I have to say, my doctors were great throughout all of this, but part of the problem was medical thinking that I was "too old" (32 at the time) for appendicitis. I had pretty much every other internal organ tested, filmed, poked, prodded, etc...
